THANK YOU BEC, DAN AND JOFRE!

The races from the Tokyo Olympics are now history, as well as the presence of Mondraker with three of our riders racing in them.

After 5 years of waiting for, one of the most important mtb events, the Olympics, are now history. And for Mondraker it has been an honour to have three of our riders representing their respective countries. Bec and Dan McConnell have represented Australia, while Jofre Cullell has done the same for Spain.

Men's race

The men's race was held on Monday with Dan McConnell and Jofre Cullell. In a tremendously demanding course, both technically and physically, the Australian and the Spaniard fought until the end. The latter was the one who qualified best, coming in 15th position after improving in every lap. A great race for the Catalan who showed in his first Olympic event that we will certainly enjoy more of him in the coming years considering his young age. Furthermore, Dan who also had a tough race qualified in 30th position.

Women's race

As for the women's race in which Bec McConnell started in the front row, Tuesday dawned with an even more demanding course due to the heavy rain the night before. We all had high hopes of seeing what she was capable of after the good results she’s achieved throughout the season. Unfortunately, the race didn't go the same way. After a tricky start off the line where Bec got surrounded and overtaken by many riders and also got caught up in a bottleneck, it was impossible to make up the lost time due to the pace of the leading group. In the end, Bec crossed the finish line in 28th position.

The results weren’t as good as they hoped, regardless we are still very grateful and proud of the performances Bec, Dan and Jofre delivered. They never gave up. To be present at an Olympic Games is already an incredible achievement.
