It’s a wrap on the 2024 World Cup season, and on the debut year of the Mondraker Factory Racing DH team which brought triumphs, podiums and the distinct feeling that this was only just the beginning! Our XC team has also had plenty to celebrate with Bec Henderson coming third overall in the XCC, and with both Marta Cano (in her first year in U23) and Ondřej giving it their all race after race. Time now for a break before properly getting into off-season training, because 2025 is already on the horizon.
The first year of Mondraker Factory Racing has been a rollercoaster of a ride. The excitement, hard work and passion of everyone on the team, both staff and riders, has been immense. Even when we were left wanting for more (Andorra, anyone?) the vibe has been onward and upward with a real sense of teamwork from start to finish.
The Irishman, Rónán Dunne took us to our first World Cup DH victory, as well as winning both Redbull Hardline events and taking 4th overall in the standings this season.
Dakotah Norton took home several podiums including two 2nd places, and wrapped up the season with a 9th place in the overall standings. Unfortunately, a last section fall in Andorra saw what was looking to be a winning run turn to nothing, and prompted the team to joke about having some T-shirts printed with the slogan “If he can keep the bike upright we’ve won!”. Humour and affection for a rider who’s given it his all in the team’s debut year.
Ryan Pinkerton, the youngest of the riders, ended up in the top 25 overall in a season which has shown his maturity and desire for more in 2025.
There’s never a year in XC that isn’t a spectacle. There’s also never a year that Bec Henderson doesn’t prove her worth. As well as taking home the National Championships in Australia, Bec’s walked away with three podiums this season; two in XCC and one in XCO. Those podiums combined with her outstanding consistency have added up to a third place overall in XCC and a tenth overall in XCO. What a result!!!
The Czech champion Ondřej Cink hasn’t had an easy run of it this year, but he’s given it his all in every race, and with the competition only getting stiffer season after season Ondřej’s place in the top 25 overall in both XCC and XCO shows his grit and determination to keep fighting for the podium.
The last, but by no means least, member of the Primaflor Mondraker Racing Team is Marta Cano who got to live her first year in the World U23 category. It’s been a time for learning and gaining experience, and as a stepping stone to the upcoming 2025 season.
Here at Mondraker we couldn’t be prouder of the work done by both teams, riders and staff, throughout a long, hard, challenging season. In 2025 the season will be even longer, with 10 races in both XC and DH. The 2025 World Cup with kick off in Araxá, Brazil, and will wrap up in October at the Canadian classic from Mont-Saint-Anne.
We’ve got a fair few months ahead of us to work, train, develop our bikes and push the reset button on our objectives for 2015.
