Grinduro, where having a good time at the party is just as important as going fast in the race, celebrates 10 years in 2025 with a new partner, Mondraker Bicycle Company, hosting two of the most iconic rounds in California and Scotland.
Since Grinduro’s inception in 2015, gravel riding, events and equipment have all evolved to create a unique experience in cycling, and Mondraker are leading the way forward when it comes to high performance gravel bikes. Mondraker’s Arid models combine MTB-inspired geometry and design features with an emphasis on speed, comfort and plenty of all-around capability, making them an ideal partner for the kind of fast, rowdy riding and full-on adventures that Grinduro is known for.
For 2025, the Purple Party returns to its birthplace, Quincy California, and to Scotland, the location of the first ever Grinduro event outside of California, which marked the beginning of Grinduro’s growth into a world-wide gravel race phenomenon. Mondraker’s position as host sponsor for these two rounds offers the Grinduro audience the opportunity to get up close and personal with the bikes and staff, meet and hang with their ambassadors and experience the bikes for themselves through the Mondraker demo fleet.
Grinduro Scotland, hosted by Mondraker, will be setting up in the market town of Kingussie in the Scottish Highlands. Kingussie is known as the gateway to the majestic Cairngorms and offers access to one of the last true wilderness areas of the United Kingdom.
On Saturday July 19, the Scottish Grinduro experience will roll out of town before heading up (and up) into the Highland trails and into the depths of the forest. Well-known for its epic views across the mountains and valleys, Grinduro Scotland will take you into the wilderness and beyond.
Linking together some of our favorite roads in a remote corner of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains, Grinduro California features a mix of surfaces (smooth pavement, gravel and hard-packed dirt) with two main climbs, one long valley and two world-class descents with incredible high Sierra views and newly built singletrack.
With a Gran Fondo-style mass start from Quincy, you’ll be pedalling out of town and up the first climb alongside your heroes and the pace will be conversational—because overall time doesn’t matter, only the four timed segments count towards podium places. The Grinduro segments are designed to reward the most well rounded of rouleurs.
The 60mile/100km route will feature Grinduro’s magic formula – a combination of gravel road race and mountain bike-style enduro: one long loop of pavement, gravel, and dirt, where finishing times are based on four timed segments (each roughly 7 – 12 minutes). As a testament to both the diverse riding skills required and the level of competition, past editions have been won by former professional downhill racers, pro road racers and current cyclocross pros.
But Grinduro is not just a bike race. It’s a celebration of cycling with as much emphasis on the fun as on the ride, with excellent food, an impressive display of art and incredible handmade bikes, live music, camping and a festival atmosphere.
