TWO RIDERS – TWO BIKES – ONE SPIRIT

Some stories don’t start with a map. They start with a glance, a nod, and a firm handshake. That’s simply what we Austrians are like. We are both, two seasoned riders from different worlds— Daniel shaped by race tape and podiums – Lukas by alpine trails and bike parks. We came together not for a destination, but for a journey. Not for victory, but for the quiet glory of the ride itself. Little did we know, these memories will last for a lifetime.

Just like the trip we planned our bikes resembled the same energy. A journey that would blend adrenaline with introspection. Fast descents with slow mornings. The Mondraker Arid and Neat—two bikes with distinct characters, ready to tackle gravel, mountains, and whatever terains lays in between.

STORMS & SUNSETS

From the surf-kissed streets of San Sebastián to the golden air of Barcelona, the road unwound in front of our eyes, ready for discovery. Tapas, cervezas and the unbeatable energy of the Basque coast marked the beginning, while misty valleys, torrential rain, and logistical curveballs defined the days that followed. But through every detour and soaked jersey, the stoke remained unshaken.

Each pass held its own truth.

Embalse de Yesa, turquoise and endless. The Pyrenees, snowy and unforgiving, reminding us that nature never plays by our rules. And yet, it showed itself in hailstorms and unrideable climbs. Just like it it was raw – real - and radiant.

Wild Horses

The nights were cold, the trails long, and sometimes even maps felt like distant memories. But meals shared after hours of pedaling tasted like feasts. Florian and Oliver, who would be with us for the entire week documenting every turn of the cranks and every unpredictable twist the trip threw at us, were the perfect addition to our team. Snuck up in our Sunlight camper, which quickly became our cozy, mobile base we quickly grew together.

Road to the east

During our first tour from San Sebastian to Lekunberri we already made good use of our base. Let’s say, the weather completely crossed our plans. However, as soon as the sky opened up we were back on track. We pushed eastward, winding through misty valleys and charming little towns until we reached Pamplona. It wasn’t just the riding that was challenging the logistics behind filming in remote areas made things even trickier. From finding water and power to dodging random supermarket hours in the middle of nowhere, it was a mission.

A descent into Aínsa under a sky painted with fire made all the strain feel small. One more lap down Puerto de Serrablo? Always worth it. Navigation by word of mouth, time dictated by nothing but daylight.

MORE THAN A RIDE

This wasn’t just a roadtrip. It was a celebration of friendship, fueled by the rhythm of spinning wheels and quiet understanding. Supported by bikes that never asked questions, only delivered, and bound by the kind of bond you can’t fake. Two friends, two machines, and one story etched across the dusty backroads of Spain.

Not a race. Not a checklist. Just the open road, a camera rolling, and hearts wide open.
