BEC MCCONNELL'S EXHIBITION IN ALBSTADT!

Spectacular weekend for Australian Bec McConnell from the PMG Racing Team at the second round of the World Cup. Bec won both the Short Track and XCO races. An outstanding performance.

Bec McConnell proved to be in top form this weekend at the second round in Albstadt, Germany. After winning the first World Cup race in Petrópolis, McConnell got back to the top spot of the podium in both races: the Short Track and the XCO. Therefore, the Australian continues with the leader's jersey showing an overwhelming consistency.

The weekend started with the Short Track on Friday. In a race, as always in this discipline with constant position changes during all the race, where Bec fought until the last second and took the victory over the French rider Pauline Ferrand-Prévot in a sprint. First place in this discipline for Bec, for the PMG Racing Team and for Mondraker. It was the beginning of a perfect weekend for the Australian.

AMAZING VICTORY

Sunday was the highlight with the XCO race. Bec has proven to be one of the main contenders for victory, she took the lead early on and set a pace that the rest of the riders couldn't keep up with, apart from Jenny Rissveds. With one and a half laps to go, and with an advantage between 30 to 50 seconds over the chasing group, the Swiss eventually gave way to McConnell, who managed to build up enough distance to take a 48-second lead into the finish line. A true exhibition

Bec McConnell after the race: "Crazy race again. I felt good, even Friday's win in the Short Track gave me a bit more confidence and helped me not to rush today and wait for the right moment to come. I can't believe it, to get another World Cup win is unbelievable. I'm just trying to enjoy every moment, the leader's jersey, the world number one... I can't say much more".

With this perfect weekend and with these two victories, the first in XCC Short Track (second in XCO), also for PMG Racing and for Mondraker in the XC discipline, Bec consolidates her first position in the World Cup with 620 points, 247 more than the Dutch Anne Terpstra, second classified.

BAD LUCK FOR JOFRE

After crossing the finish line in 31st position in the Short Track on Friday, Jofre Cullell was again unlucky on Sunday. Having performed a great comeback, he fought in the chasing group at the head of the race in which he was opting for the sixth final place. However, he started to suffer from cramps on the last lap and was relegated to 45th place. Very unlucky. However, Jofre proved to be at a great level.

On the other hand, the Junior World Cup race was held on Saturday, with Francesc Barber qualifying in 23rd position, and the UCI Junior Series race, in which the young Marta Cano finished in 15th position.

The World Cup will be back in action this weekend in Nové Město, being this the third round of the year. Both the PMG Racing team and Mondraker are looking forwards to seeing our riders in action again. We hope the good results continue for all of them, especially for Bec McConnell.

So let's keep the party going!
