Bec McConnell won in Tibi

Superprestigio MTB Tibi

Just 4 days after landing in Europe from her homeland in Australia, Bec won without too much trouble in the Superprestigio MTB in Tibi. Dan finished third while Sara Méndez suffered a crash.

After a long trip from Australia to Europe, you never know how your body will adapt or respond to a race, especially when you race just four days after arriving. Fatigue and jetlag obviously take their toll, but that didn't stop Bec McConnell fighting to get the top spot on the podium at the Superprestigio Faster MTB in Tibi, Alicante.

On a demanding and technical track, Bec led the race from start to finish alongside French Olympic Champion Julie Bresset. It was on the last lap when Bec pushed as hard as she could to cross the finish line in first position. It was a demanding race and Bec, as she commented after the race, was forced to give it her all:

“It's amazing how quickly you forget how demanding and intense the competition is, so to meet this level is really good for my confidence".

Better Lap after Lap

On the other hand, Dan's performance in Tibi was improving with each lap. In an Elite men's race with a high level, he knew that the demand for the 5 laps of the race would be high and increasing with each lap until the finish line. And it was demonstrated by the pace of the front group which was very hard at all times, without any rest. As the laps went by, Dan managed to gain positions until he finished on a very deserved third place.

The bad news we had in the Superprestigio MTB in Tibi was the crash of Sara Méndez, who will have a surgery for a scaphoid fracture. We wish her much strength; a speedy recovery and we are looking forward to seeing her riding again very soon.
