Men's race
The men's race was held on Monday with Dan McConnell and Jofre Cullell. In a tremendously demanding course, both technically and physically, the Australian and the Spaniard fought until the end. The latter was the one who qualified best, coming in 15th position after improving in every lap. A great race for the Catalan who showed in his first Olympic event that we will certainly enjoy more of him in the coming years considering his young age. Furthermore, Dan who also had a tough race qualified in 30th position.
Women'srace
As for thewomen's race in which Bec McConnell started in the front row, Tuesday dawnedwith an even more demanding course due to the heavy rain the night before. Weall had high hopes of seeing what she was capable of after the good results she’sachieved throughout the season. Unfortunately, the race didn't go the same way. After a tricky start off the line where Bec got surrounded and overtaken bymany riders and also got caught up in a bottleneck, it was impossible to makeup the lost time due to the pace of the leading group. In the end, Bec crossedthe finish line in 28th position.
The results weren’t as good as they hoped, regardless we are still very grateful and proud of the performances Bec, Dan and Jofre delivered. They never gave up. To be present at an Olympic Games is already an incredible achievement.
