Banyoles prizes the Primaflor-Mondraker-XSauce

PMX Racing Team presented three riders in the starting line at the first Copa Catalana Internacional, in Banyoles which has a participation level very near to the World Cup in Elite and sub 23 categories and counts with several classifications for UCI Junior Series with some of the best specialists in the continent.

The three of them finished their weekend more than satisfied, for both, the feelings, and the demonstrated skills in the race, as well as for the result. In chronological order, Sara Méndez opened the representation of the UCI Elite team with a noticeable 8th place in the feminine UCI Junior Series race. The Catalonian concluded as the best national, keeping pace with many of the usual riders in this competition.

The boys would end up further above on Sunday. Firstly, Francesc Barber, who signed an almost immaculate performance in the morning, in which only the french Lucas Grieco, was able to resist his rhythm. Despite the multiple trials of leaving on his own, the Balearic did not get to leave his adversary behind, ending up 2nd in the sprint for the triumph. Jofre Cullel, who was also quite noticeable, offered his best version in the 2nd half of the race, after a doubtful start, to finally end up in 10th place in the absolute race, being ahead of many World Cup podiums, and achieving the victory among the sub-23.

Jofre Cullell:

“Very happy with the result. It was the 1st race of the year, on an international scale. Truth is, I couldn’t find a starting rhythm, I didn’t have good feelings and I had been rolling in a 2nd group around the 20th place during several laps. From the 2nd half of the race on, I felt better, and I started passing people until I reached 10th place. A high skilled race, with many great riders, from which I leave completely fulfilled, most of all if you consider the moment of the year, we are at. Now we need to keep on working to improve in the next objectives."

Francesc Barber:

“It was a very quick race since the starting point. Grieco and I left from the very beginning, making our way through with the rest every time we went by the finishing line. I have tried up to the very last moment, even knowing that the sprint is always more difficult, but I was not able to get rid of him at any of the circuit’s areas. So, I was finally 2nd, but I’m very satisfied with the performance and the result”.
