Double-header this weekend

Two races have taken place this weekend where our riders have been measured against their rivals. PMX Racing Team took part in the premiere of the Open de España XCM 2021 in Cambrils, Tarragona; whilst the MS Mondraker Team competed in the DH Copa Catalana at Avià, Barcelona.

PMX Racing Team

José Márquez and David Arroyo, both PMX Racing Team's riders experienced in marathon races, took part in the first event of the 2021 Open de España XCM. A 60 km track and 1,400 metres of elevation gain, in addition to the already difficult wet race conditions, and continuous rain at the start of the race.

From the start of the race the pace was very high, as well as the level of the riders, which meant that halfway through the race the front group split into two. José was in the second group and fought until the last moment, finishing in 12th position.

On the other hand, it wasn’t David Arroyo’s day, who finally finished the race in 58th position. Anyone can have a bad day and we are sure David will return better and stronger for the next race.

MS Mondraker Team

On behalf of Mondraker DH team, the MS Mondraker Team, both Thibault Laly and Vincent Jouvenal competed in the opening race of the Catalan Cup with the appearance of many of the best international riders. The event at the 4Riders Bike Park in Avià, Barcelona (Spain), took place on a grey and cloudy day.

In a fast, fun and spectacular track with big jumps, it showcased the level of our riders before the first World Cup in their first European race of the season.

Sunday's final was very tight and finally, Thibault Laly crossed the finish line in 6th place in the Elite class, just 6.03 seconds behind the first classified while Vincent Jouvenal did it in 2nd place in the Cadet class and ended up in a remarkable 15th place overall.

Despite not getting on the podium, it was a very positive weekend for the PMX Racing Team and MS Mondraker Team riders who continue their fine tuning before the first important races of the 2021 season.
